This year was the first year I decided to do interviews over the phone/via Skype. (Before I did them via email or in person, I still do.) One thing I learned in film school was that you should always have a back up when it comes to recording things in case something goes wrong. Usually it does. So, even though I only really need an audio recording, I also do a video recording just in case.
I am also ready for the interview at least 30 minutes early (most of the time) so I have time to think but mostly I look at Instagram and try to remain calm. I am not good at the calm part. Anyway, the camera is always on before the interview so that I don't forget to do it later and basically I have a conversation by myself. Some pretty funny things can happen during this time and I thought you might like to see for yourself. I was hesitant to post this in case it might look unprofessional (despite how many times I use the word "professional" in the video, but it's all in good fun and I think most people would get nervous before talking to their favourite celebrities on the phone.
