Note: This is a little different than what I normally do. I have stayed away from a question and answer format for my interviews in order to tell a story about each person. However, on March 30, 2018, I attended the VIP Experience for Kip Moore in London, ON. Prior to the show, a survey went out so that people could submit a question for Kip to answer and luckily he chose mine! (He randomly chose it from a suggestion box.) I was so impressed that he took time to think about his answer. I would love to do a full interview with Kip some day, but for now, here is "One Question with Kip Moore".
Kip Moore: Wow! That’s a good question! ‘What has been the most challenging part of your career?’ You know, I don’t know how to answer questions with stock answers. If you ask me something, I’m going to tell you what I think…. There are so many beautiful things that come with this life. I know I’m one of the few that gets to wake up and do what he loves to do, but there’s a price to pay. The mental, spiritual, physical toll of travelling 240, 250 days out of the year… it fucks with you in so many ways. Every night you’ve got to get up to your highs even when you’re down in the cracks. It’s almost like taking drugs-- you’re up and you crash. You lose relationships, you know, friendships fall apart, you don’t see family. So, I think the answer to all that is finding balance. I’m learning little by little. I’m learning how to take time for myself. I wouldn’t trade what I do for anything. I feel like I have the most amazing job in the world when I can come up here. This is kind of when I get to release and let go of those things, but you’re still faced with it, you know? So I would just say the most difficult part for me has been finding that balance when I’m such a neurotic maniac about being great at what I do. So, that’s my answer.
